Dave's Story
Dave is a Doctor of Physical Therapy, graduating from the University of Cincinnati in 2012. Prior to PT school, he obtained his BS in Exercise Science and Physiology from Miami University. Dave began his career in private practice, at a sports medicine clinic where he gained advanced training in soft tissue treatment strategies including: instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization, Maitland and Mulligan mobilizations, basic manipulation and therapeutic massage. He is certified in Integrative Dry Needling, Cupping and Functional Release.
He continued his PT career at Akron Children’s Hospital Sport Rehab with clinical specialization at the University of Akron treating Division I athletes. Dave has developed expertise in various areas including:

Overhead throwers: Whether rehabilitating from shoulder/elbow surgery or aiming to improve performance, Dave strives to provide a progressive rehab experience that enhances performance and promotes lasting injury prevention to keep athletes on the field. A thorough understanding of throwing and hitting mechanics along with biomechanical analysis allow for individualized treatment and exercise prescription to help an athlete return to or reach their optimal potential.

Post Operative Hip, Knee, Shoulder, and Elbow Rehab: Dave aims to create a seamless journey from post-operative hip, knee, shoulder, and elbow rehabilitation to a full return to sports, bridging the gap that many therapies miss. His in-depth grasp of sports requirements ensures a smooth transition, encompassing strength and conditioning, sport-specific training/practice, and ultimately, a successful return to play.

Weight Lifting: Dave’s passion for weightlifting has led him to actively engage in both crossfit and powerlifting. He possesses a deep comprehension of tailoring lifting routines to cater to the specific demands of various sports, recognizing the uniqueness of each one, which necessitates targeted strengthening and conditioning. Dave has shared his expertise by instructing and enlightening individuals ranging from high school students to Division I athletes, helping them enhance their lifting techniques.

Gait analysis and treatment of Running athletes: Analyzing and optimizing the way individuals run to improve overall performance and reduce the risk of common running related injuries.
Driven by a desire to support athletes in their pursuits, he has collaborated with local teams to create specialized injury prevention programs tailored for lacrosse, soccer, swimming, basketball, and gymnastics.
His dedication and passion for orthopedic and sports rehabilitation revolve around empowering individuals to conquer their pain and physical obstacles, enabling them to achieve optimal performance.

Dave is a husband to Kiersten and a father to Cam and Vivi. He enjoys weight lifting, biking and running, as well as playing golf, basketball and snowboarding.
